God has blessed CEC with a 355 sq.m. property with a three-storey concrete building with a total of 600 sq.m in Patubig, Marilao, Bulacan. It was bought at a bargain price of Php 1.5M. For one month, we repainted and repaired the building, installed a water system and spent times of prayers and intercession for God's purpose to be accomplished through this property.

This is now the temporary home of five children ages 5 to 12. The center can accommodate 20 children.

KIDS AT HOME MINISTRIES:

Temporary Shelter which is located in Patubig, Marilao, Bulacan. It gives temporary care, nutrition, education for needy and neglected children. As of today, we already have 16 dwellers (8 boys and 8 girls).  We send children ages 5 and up to regular schools and encourage them to engage with activities that will develop their talents, skills and intelligences according to their own uniqueness and specialness. Every Saturday, we send two of our dwellers to our Feeding ministry to assist in giving food. It serves as their training to develop values of taking responsibility, doing good things for others and to expose them to befriend other children. On Sundays, we schedule group of children who will attend to our church for their spiritual growth and be able to mingle with other group of people. But we have volunteer Bible-teachers coming every Sunday afternoon in the center to facilitate Bible teaching, singing and other related activities. The dwellers’ life in the center has a routine schedule involving cleaning up one’s self and the assigned place, developing table manners, studying well, playing outdoor and indoor and developing friendship among themselves.

With regards to our staff development, our admin assistant leads the weekly meeting for evaluation, planning and inspirational talks. On a monthly basis, the administrator leads them for a summarized evaluation and to set another plan for the coming month/s.

By faith next year, we will be able to purchase the adjacent 184 sq. meter lot to build our boys’ dormitory and multi function hall .

Weekly Feeding Program  in Banga, Meycauayan It provides spiritual and physical nourishment for almost 120 poor and needy children every Saturday afternoon.

Educational Assistance Program (EAP) aids poor families to give importance to education by providing school supplies for their children. Also, it seizes the opportunity to educate the parents through monthly Parents’ Effectiveness Service and weekly mothers’ class.

Each beneficiary received a  brand new bag, complete school supplies and 4 white t-shirts. Come December, we plan to give them a pair of new rubber sandals.

Feeding ministry is GROWING!

It was 13 years ago when we started the ministry among street children in Metro Manila and Quezon City. With a handful of volunteers we have touched many young lives with the love of Jesus by giving them food both for physical and spiritual nourishment.  Celebrating special occasions such as Christmas was great! You could see the excitement in the eyes of these children when they received gifts and ate delicious food.

I praise God for Kids at Home temporary shelter wherein we expand the ministry among poor and needy children from food to education and shelter.  In ministering with this kind of children I have learned four things:

1. Compassion. Not just to feel the pity but to love in action.  You will not be contented feeling so sorry for their condition but this feeling will make you feel uncomfortable until you ask God to move His hands and do something for them.
2. Faith. Beyond food, toys, clothes, shelter, education you must give them the source of it all…Jesus! Believing that only Him can deliver them from all bondages.
3. Sacrifice. It needs time, effort, and money. You learn to save some things for them. Meaning, you don’t just live for yourself, for your family and for your own future. You begin to think of others and how can you bring influence upon their lives.

4. Joy. There is indeed joy unspeakable every time I’m with these little children considering them as my own. I call them ‘anak’ though they call me ‘ate”. It is so exciting because these kids will express their love, concern and appreciation to you as well. Imagine, they are calling me ‘ate Claudine?’ even I tell them my real name, they will still call me by that name and I feel so special not because the name was after an actress but I can sense that it’s their way of expressing joy and  appreciation. There’s real fun with them!  Oh, how I wish I could bring them all to Hong Kong Disneyland! But seriously, I’m praying to God that by April or May this year we can bring them all to Rizal Re-creation Center for a camp to play freely, eat good food, sleep in a nice bed even for just a day or two.

Next time, I will share to you some of their life stories. Meanwhile, why don’t you visit our center at Kids at Home, Patubig Marilao every Saturday 9:00 A.M. and here at I.S. Compound every Sunday 11:00 A.M. to see and experience first hand how God brings joy and blessings to such children.

KIDS AT HOME REJOICES

EVEN IN TIME OF DIFFICULTY

“We wait in hope for the LORD; He is our help and our shield.
In Him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his
Holy name.” – Psalm 33:20-21

Kids at Home shelters the needy, orphans, neglected and
abandoned children-boys and girls age twelve and below for four years now.  We provide them proper
nutrition, health, clothing,
education, love and care.

Oftentimes people who visit the
center would ask, Where do you get support for this program?” or “How do you sustain meeting the needs of the ministry?” And with gratefulness to the Lord we would respond by saying, “It’s all by prayers.” “It’s all by God’s great mercy and grace that we meet the needs of the entire program.

As I work with the Lord in the past four years, I see wonders of His provision. Let me share you some:

      1. He sets the place for this ministry. The house is designed with plenty rooms, small halls, garden and roof deck with an ambiance of a home wherein children would feel protected, loved and cared for.
      2. He surrounds us with supportive people from DSWD Region III to start up with the programs and services.
      3. He establishes good partnership with the Provincial Government Office and Marilao Social Welfare Office.
      4. He opens a lot of doors to work with private institutions and  organizations like SM Foundations, Wellmade Manufacturing, Pascual Laboratories, PICPA, The Lord’s Medical Hospital, KSK Food Products, Hapee Toothpaste, Christian Stewardship Association, Unilever, etc.
      5. He brings skilled people to aid us with emerging needs beyond our capabilities (engineers, artists, CPAs, teachers, medical doctors, dentists, med techs, etc).
      6. He enlarges our territory by meeting brethren of  different  nationalities; Australian,  American, Chinese, etc. Also, by meeting our brethren from different denominations.
      7. He cheers us up with  comforting, encouraging and generous friends and partners from our home-church, CEC.
      8. He creates opportunities to witness and minister to people from all walks of life who also give to the ministry.

Countless blessings, really! Each day the Lord surprises us with His    exciting moves of love and concern … from chicken eggs to cash gifts!  Indeed, our God is bigger than all these gigantic     problems, threats and negative changes.  I pray that as we face these adversities of life, we will still allow the hand of our Lord leading us to abound in giving for the fulfillment of His purpose for these children.

“He who gives to the poor will lack nothing…” – Proverbs 28:27a
